Heritable or genetic factors related to the gene encoding the β2-adrenergic receptor (ADRB2), can influence the outcome of asthma pharmacotherapy. This article is an attempt to summarize the latest research in this area and to cast further light on the impact of rare gene variants on beta agonist safety.
