About Respiratory Drug Delivery, RDD®

Respiratory Drug Delivery, RDD® addresses emerging issues surrounding drug delivery to the lung and nose.

Conferences

Conferences held in the United States, Europe and Asia provide a venue for expert speakers to cover topics including: new therapeutic opportunities and drug delivery technologies, novel in vitro, in vivo and clinical testing methods, and regulatory science. Extensive networking opportunities in relaxed surroundings are a hallmark of RDD meetings, which attract opinion leaders and delegates from all over the world. Our signature Scientific Poster Session and Technology Exhibition allows formulation, device and equipment designers, component suppliers, CROs and specialized consulting firms to present their latest developments alongside scientific posters from the aerosol community. Particularly innovative poster abstracts are presented in the main auditorium during "Posters on the Podium". In the USA, RDD meetings include Platinum Sponsor Seminars where major supporters present their latest science, while RDD meetings in Europe and Asia feature sponsored Workshops that allow delegates to customize part of the meeting to their particular interests and experience small-group learning with a more practical focus. At US meetings the Charles G. Thiel Award is presented to a scientist who has pioneered significant developments in pulmonary drug delivery and the VCU RDD Peter R. Byron Graduate Student Award is awarded to a graduate student at US and European meetings for excellence in research, and understanding and defense of their work at RDD conferences.

Publications

The widely cited, peer reviewed, professionally produced proceedings of RDD meetings are distributed to all meeting registrants, and 2,925 papers covering RDD's 36 year history are available from a searchable database at rddonline.com. This focused body of literature rivals journals and periodicals in terms of the breadth, quality and impact, and is augmented by voice-over slide presentations of key regulatory topics recorded at RDD Special Forum sessions.

Respiratory Drug Delivery: Essential Theory and Practice is the first textbook published by RDD Online®. It coordinates with supplemental online training materials (see Online Education, below) to augment and document learning. The book is available in English and Chinese, and a Chinese glossary is also available for Chinese-speaking aerosol scientists.

Access to RDD articles is subject to our Terms of Use Agreement [PDF].

Online Education

rddonline.com provides 24/7 access to online training presentations with inbuilt assessment questions making them suitable for industrial, regulatory and academic training. All online training modules coordinate with the RDD: Essential Theory & Practice textbook.

A selection of presentations originally presented at RDD Conferences are available in PDF format, and others have been developed as interactive PowerPoint presentations synchronized with narration.

Aerosol Testing Equipment

RDD Online supplies the Realistic Throat Models developed by Virginia Commonwealth University, which have been used in place of the USP throat to provide clinically relevant in vitro testing and improved drug deposition prediction. RDD Online also supplies Nephele mixing inlets, which allow representative aerosol sampling and constant airflow though a cascade impactor while flow profiles through an inhaler are varied, and USP/EP compliant Dosage Unit Sampling Apparatus (DUSAs) for MDIs and DPIs.

In addition, RDD Online provides computational airway models which can be used to predict aerosol deposition, flow field characteristics, or for the construction of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) geometries.

All equipment is supplied according to the following Terms and Conditions:
