Abstract:
The nasal drug delivery pipeline is expanding to include more complex therapeutics, including poorly soluble small molecules and biopharmaceuticals. These molecules require advanced formulation strategies, such as amorphous solid dispersions to enhance solubility and stabilizing excipients to preserve biologic activity. Spray drying plays a key role in enabling tunable particle properties for optimized nasal deposition, including targeting specific regions such as the olfactory area for nose-to-brain delivery. Success also depends on selecting the right delivery device, as formulation-device combination is critical to ensure consistent and effective performance. Together, these advances establish nasal powders as a viable platform for next-generation therapeutics.
