Abstract:

Several mobile apps, smart inhalers, and other digital tools have been developed for patients using respiratory drugs, and even more are likely to appear in the future. As this field matures, however, certain regulatory constraints are likely to become established – both by the traditional agencies overseeing marketing applications and by other government bodies, which are responsible for ensuring appropriate use of digital technologies beyond those related to healthcare and pharmaceutical drug products. This article briefly reviews the regulatory landscape in major world regions.
